Flies create a serious environmental problem for dairy farms. For planned and effective fly control, it is necessary to have good knowledge of how flies develop and behave, and how products for fly control can be used most effectively.
The financial losses associated with flies pestering cattle are well known. Summer mastitis, New Forest Eye Diseases, reduced growth, reduced yields and increased handling and management time are all contributing factors. The flies found following cows in the pasture are different from those resident in the milking parlour, dairy and cow shed. On-cow insecticides are less effective at controlling flies indoors. Here you will find a range of products specially sourced by DC Engineering from different manufactures to effectively control the fly population in and around the parlour. Which ever system you choose, you can be sure it is both hygienic and cost effective.
With Stopper electric fly killers there is no need to use chemicals or sprays, and this makes them environmentally friendly. Stopper uses UV to attract flies, and kills them with a high voltage shock. These quality units are approved for use in farm buildings. The Stopper 200 is made of epoxy coated steel, whilst the Stopper 300 is constructed of Stainless Steel to ensure a long life.
Electric fly killing machine. The flies are attracted by 2 x 15w ultra violet lights, and a 6000v high voltage grid zaps them. Ideal for the bulk tank room, dairies, kitchens and places where fly sprays can not be used. Protects up to 120 m2. Simply plugs into a 230v 13a socket outlet. Case is made from plated aluminium, grid from chromium plated steel. More sizes and specifications available to order.
To keep your Insect Killer in optimum condition for killing insects, and to comply with milk buyer guide lines, it is recommended that you change the tubes yearly, as they slowly loose the UV light output, which reduces their ability to attract flies. A range of tubes from 6 Watts to 25 Watts is available, in straight, tight bend or circular types. All tubes are available by mail order, at very competitive prices.
DeLaval Stopper 3D fly paper has a new patented way of using colours and patterns in order to attract flies even during dusk hours, when they are most active. Once attracted, they are stuck to the paper with a strong glue. Flypaper is available in pieces (600mm x 340mm or 300mm x 120mm) or curtains (100mm x 6m or 300mm x 7m). The Stopper Fly string works in a similar way, the flies being attracted to the white string, and becoming stuck on the glue. Fly strings are 360m long, and when full, you just wind the string along so a new clean length is exposed.
